** NEW PWAACS COMMITTEE INFORMATION TO ALL MEMBERS **

Dear Members
** The Committee is pleased to announce that Lake 4 is now open from 1st November 2024 **

LAKE 4 - Specific Information

Open From 1st November 2024, but the Following Restrictions Apply

  • Dip Tanks to Be Used at All Times (mats/nets/weigh slings must be dry and dipped before fishing)
  • No Movement of Fish from the Lake
  • Strictly Members Only (No Guest Tickets)
  • Maximum 48hrs Fishing (Until Further Notice)
*Anyone found breaking these restrictions will have their membership revoked.

With Lake 4 closed for a long period, we still needed to ensure the fish were cared for i.e. regular feeding, and we have also recently carried out a lot of maintenance ex. weed & pads controlled/removed and general ground/lake work to make it look lovely and ready for you members to start fishing down there again.
So, a huge thanks to all involved in this and for the really hard work put in.

We would also like to thank our members for your continuing support during the past few months and adhering to the rules put in place.

In terms of where we are with the KHV, there has been no reported loss of fish for pretty much the entire period of the lake closure which is great news but it does not guarantee we are free of infection so we will monitor Lake 4 closely after opening.

** Members **
Latest update on the KHV situation and some good news, we have received formal written notification from CEFAS that the Confirmed Designation has now been lifted and also expect to be removed from the list on the GOV.UK website in coming week(s).

CEFAS NOTIFICATION
Paddock Wood Angling and Conservation
THE AQUATIC ANIMAL HEALTH (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 2009 - KOI HERPESVIRUS (KHV)
CONFIRMED DESIGNATION WITHDRAWAL - GEDGES LAKES

I am pleased to inform you of the successful completion of the Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) disease monitoring programme following the initial outbreak of this disease at Gedges Lakes.
During this period there have been no re-occurrences of clinical KHV disease at your site and as a result we are in a position to withdraw the confirmed designation (CD) currently in force.
Please therefore be advised that CD04.2024, placed on Gedges Lakes (EW003-S-242) is withdrawn with immediate effect and the conditions of this notice no longer apply to this site.

While your site has met the statutory requirements for the lifting of KHV disease controls, we cannot guarantee that your stocks are free of infection with KHV.
It follows, therefore, that this letter should not be used to give assurances to your customers on the health status of your stock.
We recommend that you continue to maintain good biosecurity measures at your site, particularly concerning equipment disinfection or supply for use and responsible sourcing of fish.
These measures help not just to prevent the possible spread of disease from your fishery but in the same way will also provide a measure of protection to your own valuable stocks.

As per the notification above from CEFAS and the guidelines continued to be given, this does not guarantee we are free of infection with KHV and reiterate that the club "continue to maintain good biosecurity measures"
so the rules/restrictions currently in place will continue to remain for the foreseeable future.
So we ask all members to adhere to these without exception and until the Committee agree to lift them.

The Committee has had to make some tough decisions and work extremely hard monitoring and managing this over the past months and you the members have also had to play your part in supporting the club by adhering to rules & restrictions put in place.
This was all done for the great of the club, the members and the fish, as well as doing our bit to help prevent any possible spread of infection both inside and outside of our club lakes.

So we would like to thank each and everyone for the continuing support and ask that we continue to follow the rules and guidelines.
Remember that whilst our club acted swiftly and has now had notification the restrictions have been lifted, other fisheries may still be going though this tough process.
So the importance of continuing to maintain good biosecurity measures is a much wider reason to do so.

Once again, a huge thanks to each and everyone.
Don't forget, there has been some really special catches recently ex. big Perch, so get those cameras out and share some more of your great catches.
Tight lines all!

Many Thanks
The Committee

GEDGES - GENERAL BIOSECURITY
So the guidelines & rules continue to be as per previous updates and for the foreseeable future re: Dip Tanks, Dry Nets, or moving any fish between lakes, including one additional rule re: Dip Tanks in that you MUST re-dip all equipment listed below when moving between lakes, this is to ensure that the club continue to maintain good biosecurity measures at all our lakes, particularly concerning equipment disinfection.
These measures help not just to prevent the spread of any disease but in the same way will also provide a measure of protection to our fish.
Keepnets are now allowed (subject to member adhering to the new rules) at the fishery for Pleasure and Match fishing, but you must follow the rules outlined on the RULES Page, under the BYE-LAWS section (Point 5).
So please ensure that you follow the rules and guidance put in place by the Committee not just on Lake 4 but across all lakes & until further notice from the Committee.

Protect fisheries by disinfecting your angling equipment (Using biosecurity measures)

Fishery managers can only do so much to reduce the risk of disease transmission, so anglers must do all they can to safeguard the future of their sport.
Net dips are in situ as previously communicated. These are in the disabled car park and on the bottom of the slope from the top car park leading to lake 3.
These are to be used with no exception and members will also be held responsible to ensure any guests brought to the lakes follow this rule.
It is not practical to disinfect every bit of angling equipment.
Best practice is to thoroughly disinfect high risk equipment that comes into direct contact with fish or water.

This includes:
  • Landing nets.
  • Keepnets.
  • Unhooking mats.
  • Weigh slings.
  • Waders.
ALL PWAACS WATERS (Including ALL Leased Waters)

Net Dips are available at Gedges Lakes in the Disabled car park and at the bottom of the slope from the top car park leading to Lake 3.

** THE NET DIPS MUST BE USED. **

Dear Members
Further to the recent update posted today.
The committee has just been informed by one of our leased fisheries that some members are being difficult when asked to comply with equipment disinfection and using dip nets where available.

** THE NET DIPS MUST BE USED AT ALL LAKES WHERE AVAILABLE **

Members MUST ensure that if net dips are available at ANY of our leased fisheries (Hunton, Owls Castle, Claygate, Sams Lakes, Greenacres, Weirwood)
or ANY other fisheries that PWAACS Members visit, THEY MUST BE USED.

This rule has been put in place for a reason which is to help prevent the possible spread of disease and as a safeguard for not just our club but all fisheries.

To be very clear, any member not adhering to these rules will be asked to leave the associated fishery and potentially banned from that fishery, they will also have their PWACCS membership revoked without question.

Many Thanks
The Committee
